 
Robert A. DeWitt
LISBON – Robert A. DeWitt, 78, of Lisbon, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening Nov. 1, 2022 at his home. He was born in Ayer, Mass. on Nov. 10, 1943, to George and Marion (Mead) DeWitt.
He was educated in Durham Public schools. On July 3, 1982, he married the former Donna Arsenault Gonsalves of Lisbon and together they settled in Lisbon.
On Oct. 1, 1966, Bob joined the Auburn Fire Department and served the Department and the City for 35 years as he worked his way up the ranks until his retirement as Assistant Fire Chief in February of 2001. Soon after, he worked several years for the U.S. Post Office delivering mail as a rural carrier.
He was always an avid outdoorsman. In his retirement, he also established a side business known as “Grandpa’s Used Tractors”. At age 60, Bob fulfilled a lifelong passion as he took lessons to play the violin, using his talents to entertain many. He was a loving, devoted and hardworking husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Donna DeWitt; daughter Robin Bubar and husband Marc, son Jeff Gonsalves, daughter Jennifer Montalvo-Lobo and husband Chris;
eight grandchildren, Heather, Zachary, Chelsey, Cameron, Marcus, Allison, Nathan and Justin; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter and Mike, three sisters, Meg, Laura and Veronica and their loved ones. Bob was predeceased by two brothers William and Roy DeWitt.
Visitation at Fortin Group / AUBURN Sun. Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Words of Remembrance will take place in the funeral home at 1 p.m.
