You may know it as the company that makes light bulb filament. Today, Elmet Technologies produces materials and machined products for the defense, aerospace and alternative energy industries.

But there were some dark days at the 93-year-old company, less than a decade ago. The bank was on the verge of liquidating, and the management team was nervous. “That was a time when the company was very likely to fail and disappear,” said Elmet’s chief financial officer.
