100 Years Ago: 1922

The Silhouette Social held at Community Hall, Friday night, was well attended, and a pleasant evening enjoyed. The ladies in charge were Gertrude Howard, Mrs. T. C. Chapman, Mrs. Philbrook, and Mrs. Elizabeth Joslin. An entertaining program was given with readings by Grace Howard and Ella Clark, song in pantomime by Dorothy Smith, a duet by Mrs. Elizabeth Joslin and Mrs. Grace Calif, a solo by Mrs. Glenn Kelley and a piano solo by Gladys Starbird. Silhouette drawings of familiar faces were fastened on the wall and a prize awarded to the one guessing the largest number correctly. Grace Howard won the prize, given the right name to twenty-seven of them. Refreshments were served during the evening.

50 Years Ago: 1972

The Auburn Art Club will be entertained Monday afternoon, Nov. 27. at the home of Mrs. Philip L. Archambault, of College St., Lewiston, Mrs. Archambault and her mother, Mrs. Cora Chaote will present a program on the topic, “Embroidery as a Decorative Art.”

Hostesses for the afternoon will be Mrs. Richard C. Buerhaus, Mrs. Charles E. Kerr, Mrs. Walter W. Webber and Mrs. Norman P. Litchfield.

25 Years Ago: 1997

Hat Day at Dirigo Middle School was part of Spirit Week, when each day brought something different. On Hat Day, students wore their favorite hats. Students are Mallory LeBlanc, Josh Tozier, Mallory Thompkins, Tina Maloney, Beth Holman and Allegra Moisan.
