Lewiston, Maine, officials received a flurry of calls after Lewiston, Idaho, issued a boil water alert Wednesday morning. Local officials issued a notice to clarify the confusion.

LEWISTON — City residents can drink easy after a boil water alert in Lewiston, Idaho, sent some into a panic Wednesday morning, local officials said.

The sister-city in Idaho issued its alert around 10:30 a.m. when its public works department found a reservoir failure.

Lewiston, Maine, city administrators and public works began receiving calls after the alert out west went live.

“Please note there is not a boil water alert in effect. This is occurring in  Lewiston, Idaho, not Maine,” a news release from city officials read. “(It) has caused some confusion locally. We are good!”
