Wayne G. Canwell

PERU – Wayne G. Canwell, 62, died peacefully Wednesday July 19, 2023, at his residence on the Dickvale Road in Peru. He was affectionately known to his friends as “WaCa.”

Wayne was born in Rumford, on April 22, 1961, the son of Glendon and Evelyn (Pingree) Canwell. He was a graduate of Mexico High School and recently retired from Cianbro as a Rigger/Welder. He was a long-standing member of the Rumford Eagles Club and enjoyed fishing, gardening, the Red Sox, BBQing and spending time with his family.

Wayne was married to Bernadette Byron who survives of Peru. Other survivors include daughters, Jennifer Voter and husband Sal of Utah, Trisha Giasson and companion Nick of Biddeford, Katelynn Giasson and companion Bryce of Andover, Amy Giasson and companion Mark of Mexico; sons Daniel DiBenedetto of Rumford and Gregory Giasson and companion Ivy of Waterford, a sister Pamela Rideout of Mexico, grandchildren, Maddalena Voter, Nikayla York, Carl Touchette, Jr., Dominic DiBenedetto, Hayden Miller and Emma Ryan Giasson and a great grandchild Zavier Rodriguez. He was very close to his Uncle Rodney Canwell who both took pride in hosting the Canwell Family Reunion for many years.

Friends and Family are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday July 27, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday July 28, 2023, at the Meader & Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St Rumford. Interment to follow at the Demeritt Cemetery in Peru.
