Pomona Grange

GREENE — Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Androscoggin Grange for a 6:30 p.m. supper. The meeting, beginning at 7:30, will include installation of officers, which will be conducted by State Flora Victoria Huff and her installing team. There will be a 50/50 raffle and an attendance drawing. All members and guests are welcome.

Beekeepers

MEXICO — Western Maine Beekeepers Association will present a slide show and talk by State Apiarist Tony Jadczak on getting hives ready for winter. The class will be on Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Region 9 School, Route 2.

Beekeepers need to properly prepare their hives for winter to ensure survival. This class will cover the latest treatments for pests and diseases as well as tips and techniques for getting hives through the winter.

All area beekeepers are invited to attend the free presentation.

Danville Grange

AUBURN — Danville Junction Grange will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8. Plans will be made for the ensuing year, and refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. All members and guests are welcome.

Eastern Star

AUBURN — Members of Pine Cone Chapter #26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. The meeting will be preceded by an Eastern Star Training Award for Religious Leadership supper at 6 p.m. for a donation of $3.

district 4 chapters participating will be Pioneer #11, Lakeside #60 and Pine Cone #26. All donations will go to the ESTARL program. Jerri A. Holt, past grand matron and chairman of the program in Maine, will be present. The chapter will honor the station of chaplain. Debra Greim, grand chaplain of the Grand Chapter of Maine, will be present.

Pine Cone Chapter has the travel emblem “Star” for District #4. All Eastern Star members are welcome.

Nursing alumni

LEWISTON — The Central Maine College of Nursing Alumni Association will meet on Thursday, Sept. 8, at the college, 70 Middle St. The meeting will begin at noon with a tour of the college conducted by Nancy Jo Ross, director of Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing and Health Professions College of Nursing.

A business meeting will be held following the tour. Those attending are asked to bring a brown bag lunch. All area nurses are invited. For more information call 783-4322.

Cribbage results

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Sept. 1 were, first: Steve Agurkis and Roland Bosse, second: Cindy Boyd and Roger Briggs, third: Aaron Burke two player table, fourth: Hope Hughes and Norm Bissonnette, fifth: Mickie Farnum and Linda Dostie Scott.

The next game will be played at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8.
