A quiet Friday in Maine will give way to a very wet Saturday as a cold front and the remnants of Tropical Storm Philippe combine to to hit us with heavy rain.
Much drier and more comfortable conditions arrive Sunday, with typical October weather continuing into next week.
Friday will be overcast in Maine, though still comfy. Temps will be mild in the upper 60s. A sprinkle or shower is possible heading into the evening, but most remain dry.
The remnants of tropical storm Philippe reach Maine on Saturday, and it gets absorbed into a fall cold front.
This will enhance rainfall across the state, several inches likely Saturday, especially central and Midcoast Maine.
Rain will begin Saturday morning, picking up in intensity by the afternoon.
A total washout Saturday with highs in the mid-60s, good day for indoor plans.
Heavy rain looks likely, especially in Midcoast and Down East Maine.
Winds will be a bit breezy, but not enough for any concern. The winds will likely knock a lot of the fall leaves off the trees in areas at peak color but will be weak enough that we can hopefully avoid completely ending peak fall color.
Things will dry out by Sunday as cooler, drier air moves into the state.

A few morning showers will give way to afternoon sun. Highs will be in the mid-60s with breezy winds from the west, it may actually be windier than Saturday.
Even cooler weather is on the way to start next week. Highs will be in the 50s, with a mix of sun and clouds and slight chances for scattered showers Monday and Tuesday.
Heading towards the middle of the week, we’ll see temps in the 60s with lows in the low 40s. Slight chances for showers will continue, but widespread rain is not expected through next Thursday.
