XFINITY: Sam Mayer rallied from the verge of elimination from the Xfinity Series playoffs with a season-defining win on The Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
It was the third career win for the 20-year-old driver for JR Motorsports, who was ranked 12th and last in the playoff standings. All three of Mayer’s wins this season are on road courses, and this one earned him one of eight spots in the next round of the playoffs.
Reigning champion Daniel Hemric, Parker Kligerman, Josh Berry and Jeb Burton were eliminated.

Tottenham moved two points clear of defending champion Manchester City, which plays Arsenal on Sunday.
• Substitute Scott McTominay scored two goals in second-half stoppage time as Manchester United rallied to beat visiting Brentford, 2-1.
• Chelsea scored four goals in the second half to beat Burnley, 4-1, earning back-to-back league wins for the first time since March.
ITALY: Christian Pulisic came off the bench and combined with U.S. teammate Yunus Musah to score a late goal in AC Milan’s 1-0 win at Genoa as the Rossoneri took a two-point lead at the top of Serie A.
Fellow forward Olivier Giroud also had a crucial part to play in the match, but in an unusual position. Milan had already used up all of its substitutes, so Giroud took over in goal.
SPAIN: Jude Bellingham extended his superb scoring run since joining Real Madrid, striking twice in a 4-0 win over Osasuna to help maintain its lead in the Spanish league.
