Next month’s Lewiston City Council election is too important for people to fail to vote.

Four obstructionist city councilors, including Lee Clement representing our Ward 6, have been accused of illegally conducting city business in a bar.

We need trust and transparent representatives on the council. Thus, my wife and I will be casting our vote for the unaffiliated party candidate David Chittim.

Chittim is a professional engineer, married 46 years, who’s lived in Lewiston since 1977. During that time, he has developed a long history of community service including being a past member of the Lewiston Public Works Advisory Commission, volunteer mediator in the Maine Attorney General’s Office and Lewiston Auburn Railroad treasurer.

If elected to Ward 6, Chittim’s priorities would be promoting civil discourse on the council, providing safe housing for all, supporting a strong education system, and encouraging development to broaden the tax base.

The bickering and obstructionism must stop.
