LEWISTON — A dinner for service personnel — medical, rescue and law enforcement — along with their families, is set for 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at the Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul, 122 Ash St.

The gathering will celebrate those involved in the immediate response and aftermath of the shooting on Oct. 25. The event is being sponsored by the Heaven’s Kitchen Ministry of St. Anne Parish in Hampstead, New Hampshire, according to a news release from Molly DiLorenzo, director of communications for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland.

“In the true spirit of fellowship, the Heaven’s Kitchen Ministry reached out to us in the wake of this great tragedy in our city to ask how they could help,” said Fr. Daniel Greenleaf, pastor of Prince of Peace Parish in Lewiston. “Their offer to provide a meal of healing, as well as to give thanks to our brave responders, acknowledges that we still grapple with the effects of this devastating event.”
