Joyce S. (Stevens) Hamel

LEWISTON – It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Joyce S. (Stevens) Hamel, 93, on Sunday Dec. 17, 2023, at the Central Maine Medical Center. She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 3, 1930, a daughter of Norris and Faith (Whitman) Stevens. She married Robert Hamel on Dec. 23, 1950, and they raised their family on their dairy farm in Turner.

She and her husband both worked on the family farm, with their kids. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loving family. She would often be seen in her vegetable and flower garden or baking a delicious treat for her family.

She was predeceased by her parents, Norris and Faith Stevens her husband Robert Hamel, her son Norris Hamel,

She is survived by her daughter Diane Smith and her husband Ted, her daughter in-law Penny Hamel her grandchildren, Rainy Brewer and her husband Dennis, Faith Picard, and her great grandchildren, Robert and Jessie Truitt, Kalan, Malia, and Sage Clark.

A graveside service will take place in the spring. The family would like to express their gratitude for the excellent caring and compassion of the Doctor Herman, nurses, and staff on the fourth floor at Central Maine Medical Center.
