Christine A. Smith

MINOT – Christine A. Smith, 82, of 71 Star Dr., Minot, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024. She was born in Lowell, Mass. on April 2, 1941, to Thomas Paul and Christine (Paul) Kyllonen.

She moved to Maine at a young age. She attended schools in McFalls, graduating in 1959. She attended CMMC School of Nursing when she met the love of her life, David Smith. They married

in 1959 and raised five children. She was a homemaker the majority of her life until she became a roofer with David’s roofing business.

Her greatest passion was travelling with her husband to 50 states and many countries abroad. Her second love was gardening where she spent numerous hours. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was hard worker, funny, most caring person you could ever meet. She had such a passion for life and lived completely unapologetically. She was well loved by everyone that knew her.

Survivors include a son, Thomas D. Smith and his wife Ann of Minot, four daughters, Terry C. Gagnon and her husband David of South Carolina, Kim Zeller and her husband John of Washington Street, Robin Dunn of Arizona, Holly Bachmann and her husband Peter of Auburn; her sister-in-law Ann Fenderson of Auburn; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren. Special thanks to Katherine Swett, Jane Edwards, and Andy Moore.

She was predeceased by husband David of 45 years; mother, Christine Kyllonen; brother, Thomas Kyllonen; stepfather, U.E. Kyllonen; sisters-in-law, Bev Kyllonen and Evie Smith, brother-in-law W. Fenderson; and several nephews.

Also, she was predeceased by her special companion of 16 years, Robert Russell.

“You’re finally back home with your soulmate and the love of your life and we know you couldn’t be happier” love you always.

Family and friends may attend funeral services Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the East Auburn Baptist Church.
