Patricia Austin

RUMFORD – Patricia Austin, 90 died Friday, March 1, 2024, at the Rumford Community Home. She had been a resident of Concorde Apartments on Franklin Street in Rumford.

Patty was born in Rumford, on March 15, 1933, and was a daughter of Merle and Myrtle (Bean) Philbrick. She was a graduate of Mexico High School and worked as a house cleaner in the area. Her favorite saying was “I never smoked, I never drank, and I never drove”. She had enjoyed square dancing, reading “The National Enquirer”, and telephoning family and friends.

Patty was married to Allan Austin who died in South Paris, on May 30, 2018.

She is survived by her daughter Laurie Latendresse and husband Dennis of Sidney, a son Gregg Rivard and wife Marlene of California, a sister Beverly Boyle and husband Lee of Hopewell, Va., a brother Rodney Philbrick and wife Stella of Rumford, grandchildren, Travis Smith and wife Margaret of California, Patrick Gates of California, Ivy Latendresse of Manchester, Kelly Latendresse and husband Ed McGowan of Jamaica Plain, Mass., Cara Rivard of Monterey, Calif., Lindsey Hunt and husband Ethan of Waterboro, and Ian Rivard of Massachusetts, and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, daughter Deborah and son-in-law Larry Gates, sisters, Muriel Downs, Methyl Cantin, Gloria Leighton, Polly Robinson, Mona Young, Peggy DeRoche, Esley Thompson, Audrey Thompson, Barbara Bouchard, and Nancy Jean Philbrick, brothers, Johnny, Marshall, Glendon, Gary, and Dick Philbrick. A special thanks to her niece Carol Thibeault and nephew Keith Bouchard whom she loved.

Funeral services will be held in the spring. Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford.
