Over the past week, several large trees have been cut down on a steep embankment between Hillcrest and Gamage Avenue to allow for a project to take place. Auburn officials Tuesday said the work is part of a “wall replacement project, but the portion of the road adjacent to the wall will need to be repaired due to the excavation work needed to replace the wall.” Officials say $250,000 has been budgeted for the project.
