NORWAY — Pink Feather Foundation, a local organization that provides free clothing to students, asks for the community’s help in their search for a new headquarters.

Since 2021, Pink Feather has leased a space from a local business partner in Norway. In July the property was sold, and the lease expires January 2025.

“Having a place of our own has always been part of our plan. We’ve been searching for months, but we haven’t found the right fit, or places have slipped through our fingers,” Pink Feather co-founder Jen Kyllonen said in a news release from the foundation.

During the 2023–24 school year, Pink Feather packed and delivered 262 boxes of clothing to students in Regional School Unit 16 and School Administrative District 17. In addition to delivering clothing, the organization also provides volunteer opportunities for organizations like Progress Center in Norway, JFM Navigators in Auburn, Momentum in Auburn, and Whittier House in New Gloucester. Volunteers help with things like processing donations, ironing, photography, tagging and inventory.

Without a place to go, the group faces no longer being able to serve students and teachers in western Maine. “Ideally, we move to a new location in November,” said Kyllonen. “If not, we’ll be looking at moving everything into storage while we continue our search. If that happens, we won’t be able to provide for these students or host our volunteers. So many people will be affected if we can’t find a place to call home.”

The organization is looking for a 5,000-square-foot space, located in Oxford, Norway or South Paris. A space above 3,000 square feet anywhere within the RSU 16 or SAD 17 footprint would be considered as well.
