A three-year old youngster is currently being given shots at St. Mary’s General Hospital for possible rabies, and the shots could be stopped if the dog which bit the child yesterday could be found and tested.

Young Bobby Maurais, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Maurais of 374 Main St., Lewiston, was bitten about the head at Elm and Main Streets, Lewiston, about 3:30 p.m., by a young black dog.

A member of the family said today it is not true that he was released from the hospital. He has been receiving anti-rabies shots since the accident. It is hoped that anyone seeing the incident, and knowing the identity of the dog, will notify authorities so that rabies testing can take place. If the tests prove negative, young Robert won’t need the remainder of the painful treatment.
