We received our property tax bill the other day. It made me think about Maine’s tax rates in general, which are in the top four highest in the country, and number one highest state for property tax rates, when compared to income.
In contrast, states like New Hampshire have no income tax, and still their property taxes are less than ours in general. I don’t have any specific insight, but all I can think of is that the Maine state government must be inefficient, spending too much of our taxes on the wrong priorities.
We need someone in Augusta who has the will to take on the out-of-control state spending and lower the taxes on Maine citizens. Rep. Laurel Libby is just the person to do this. She is courageous and honest.
I hope people join me in voting for Rep. Libby — together we can decrease our state taxes.
