The body of Donald Gordon was found Saturday morning by a searching party in the deep woods beyond Oquossoc, many miles from any human habitation. There was a bullet wound through his head. At the time the sad news was sent to his home in Livermore Falls, members of the party were watching beside the body, until the coroner should arrive.

The first impression of those who came upon the body, after two days of searching, was that Mr. Gordon had been accidentally shot by another hunter, who possibly never knew of the tragedy.

Girl Scout Troop 483 of Lewiston recently invested four new members and assistant leader Mrs. Jeannine St. Hilaire. Invested into the troop were Sharon Beaupre, Rachelle Merrow, Donna Lizotte and Doris St. Hilaire.

During recent weeks, the troop members visited radio station WCOU where they were given a guided tour by Tom Starr of the station staff, held a Halloween party at the home of their leader, Mrs. Lorraine Locke and enjoyed a luncheon at the November investiture.

Three people went to the hospital and 900 gallons of heating oil spilled along Route 4 in Farmington Saturday after two trucks collided and rolled over. The accident happened at 10:20 a.m. about a mile away from the intersection with Town Farm Road, said police Sgt. Vernon Stevens.

Both vehicles were travelling north when the fuel truck stopped to make a left hand turn into a residence. The empty dump truck was unable to stop in time and hit the fuel truck from behind, Stevens said. The oil truck, owned by Twitchell’s Oil and driven by Elizabeth Morris, both of Farmington, had its rear wheels ripped off by the impact. The dump truck, owned by Hargreaves Construction and driven by Russell Hargreaves, both of Farmington, had its left front tire ripped off.
