WATERFORD — A section of a house was destroyed Thursday morning by fire on Sweden Road, but fire crews were able to save the remainder of the historic home.
No injuries were reported in the 9 a.m. blaze at 55 Sweden Road.
The building is attached to a two-story house said to be nearly 200 years old.
Early reports were that the burned building had been serving as living quarters, but that the one person at home when the fire started was able to escape safely.
Waterford fire crews were assisted at the scene by firefighters from several area towns.
