Two freight trains, one from Portland and the other from Rumford were in head-on collision at Fuller Crossing in Canton, near the grove at the foot of Lake Anasagunticook about 7.45 Friday morning. Two trainmen, R. B. Bridgham of Auburn, and Mr. York of Canton, were badly injured.
The freight for Rumford was loaded with pulp, lime and coal. Mr. Bridgham was buried beneath a quantity of lime, and he suffered a broken leg as well as other injuries. Mr. York of Canton received several broken ribs. The injured men were taken to Dr. Morton’s office in Canton, where their injuries were treated until arrangements could be made for removing them to a hospital.

St. Mary’s School of Nursing students, more than 100 of them, honored Wednesday, a doctor who has served the school as the school’s physician for 25 years. Honor guest at the testimonial held at the Nurses’ home was Dr. Geraldine Lynn.
A Lewiston resident serving a broad section of the community in family practice, Dr. Lynn has found time as the school’s doctor to serve some 841 students during that time. Some of these were among the school’s faculty members. Sr. Jeannette Corneau, director of the nursing school, Sr. Laurette Berube, a past director; Robert Caouette, director of the hospital and Sr. St. Theophane, hospital administrator, all were special guests at the testimonial.
The students presented an entertainment which included the singing of Hello Dolly for which special lyrics had been written. In addition they presented her with a beautiful bowl, suitably engraved, and a pair of candlesticks in pewter.
Dr. Lynn came to the hospital in 1946. She received her B.S. degree from Keuka College in 1935, her Medical Degree in 1940 from Syracuse University College of Medicine.
