BETHEL — It has been a good season for skating at the town rink, according to the recreation director.
Recreation Director Nate Crooker said it’s the first time in a few years that the 60- by 100-foot rink was assembled in December, allowing skaters to spend Christmas break on the ice.
The big news, he said with a smile, is the new porta potty.
Crooker said he appreciates volunteers such as Bruce and Suzanne Pierce, Mary Scanlon and Ed Lovejoy, who help with clearing the ice, as well as the Mahoosuc Kids Association which uses the rink.
It is open at dawn, and lights under the ice turn on at dusk so people can skate until 8 p.m.
