Gerald Doyer
LEWISTON – Gerald Doyer, 85, of 100 Campus Ave., passed away Feb. 6, 2025 after a brief hospitalization.
Born in Lewiston to Simone and Henri Doyer, he was raised on Bates Street along with his two sisters, Mariette and Suzanne.
Gerald married Bonnie Ann Rancourt in 1960. They were married 24 years. They have one son, Douglas. They were divorced in 1984.
Jerry worked very hard, (seven days a week), most of the time. His work was his life. He was employed at Demers Plate Glass in the 1960s, working his way up to Master Glazer and Foreman, doing jobs all over New England. Jerry was finally able to achieve his dream of owning his own business. Opening Jerry’s Aluminum Sales and Service, specializing in windows, doors, and siding in 1969. He was very successful and thoroughly enjoyed servicing many customers with a crew of up to 50 men. However, a major auto accident in 1972 put an end to his working career. Leaving him with many severe health issues that would plague him the rest of his life.
Jerry enjoyed going to the Lewiston Fairgrounds to watch the horse races. He was even able to own four horses himself for a few years. He also enjoyed playing cards with his buddies. The few summers he was able to stay at camp were also very rewarding for him.
Jerry belonged to many of the local social clubs over the years, enjoying all the great people at all of these places, frequenting The Eagles Club and the Carlton Club the most Jerry’s favorite trips of all were travelling to California, frequent trips to Massachusetts when able, and trips to all parts of Canada to see his many relatives.
He is survived by his sisters Mariette Thibault of Las Vegas, Nev. and Suzanne Dufault of Lewiston. He is also survived by his son, Douglas and wife Roxanne of Mechanic Falls; his granddaughters Alexandra Doyer of Sarasota, Fla., Olivia Laliberte and husband Blake of Minot, and Victoria Scarlett Doyer of Mechanic Falls; along with many other nieces and nephews.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents.
Dad and “Pepere” will be very sadly missed.
Special thanks to all the nurses and staff of Douville Pavillion (4EAST) for everything you’ve done for Jerry over the last two and a half years.

A visitation for Gerald will be held Friday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Fortin and Pinette Group, 217 Turner St., Auburn, ME 04210, followed by a Liturgy of the Word at 1 p.m. Committal Prayers will occur Friday, April 25, after the service, at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 217 Switzerland Rd., Lewiston, ME 04240.
