Baker takes care of a garden at Androscoggin Learning and Transition Center in Auburn, where she works. She was also getting seeds to plant at home, where she is a part-time home-schooler. Auburn’s Community Development Team organized the free seed giveaway and informational event to connect with community partners to help people prepare for the upcoming growing season. Several master gardeners, including Nancy Morris, right, with The University of Maine Cooperative Extension, helped people with questions and seed selections. Pinetree Garden Seeds donated the seed packets. Several other local organizations joined in the event to help promote healthy nutrition and provide seeds for anyone, but especially local teachers who have gardens at their schools.
