MECHANIC FALLS — Ground beef purchased at the Hannaford in Mechanic Falls was recalled Tuesday “out of an abundance of caution,” according to a statement from the store Wednesday.
The statement said the Hannaford brand 80 percent lean ground beef bought at the 50 Pigeon Hill Road store may contain foreign material. Customers should check their storage and freezer areas for the product and either dispose of it or bring the beef or its packaging back to the store for a refund.
The beef being recalled was sold between 2 and 7 p.m. on Tuesday with a sell-by date of April 11, 2025.
The recall only applies to the Mechanic Falls store. No injuries or illnesses have been reported, according to the statement.
