Leah Shannon homered and drove in three runs, and St. Dom’s beat North Yarmouth Academy, 10-6, for an important Class D South softball victory Monday in Auburn.
Emily Andrews also had three RBI on two hits the Saints (7-3). Maddie Andrews and Piper Croteau contributed two hits apiece, and Chloe Croteau scored three runs.
Maddie Andrews earned a complete-game win with five strikeouts while limiting the Panthers to five hits over seven innings.
NYA pitcher Lily Fortin fanned six in six innings. She also led the Panthers (8-2) offensively with two hits, including a triple.
EDWARD LITTLE 20, HAMPDEN ACADEMY 10: The Red Eddies (6-4) powered past the Broncos (6-4) in six innings a high-scoring Class A North contest in Auburn.
Edward Little seized control with nine runs in the bottom of the second inning, taking an 11-5 lead, then added five runs in the fourth and four in the sixth inning to end the game early via mercy rule.
Kylee Lebrun had two hits, including a double, and led the Eddies with four RBI. Lexi Kelsea had two hits and three RBI, and Allie Michaud (one RBI) and Emily Poulin also finished with two hits.
Cat Facchini double twice and drove in three runs for Hampden, which scored five runs in the second and five more in the third. Mariah Coon added two hits and two RBI, and Kiera Gabric had a pair of hits and drove in a run.
LEWISTON 5, SKOWHEGAN 4: Aubrey Wood’s two-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Blue Devils (5-6) a walk-off win over the River Hawks (8-3) in Lewiston.
Lewiston rallied for three runs in the final frame. Ava Dionne, who also singled home a run in the bottom of the seventh, finished with team-highs of three hits, including a double, and three RBI. Wood had two hits, and Hailey Bellemare tripled for the Blue Devils.
Dionne also pitched a complete game, striking out nine, scattering eight hits and not issuing a walk while allowing four runs (two unearned) to earn the win.
Layla Clark tripled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice for Skowhegan, which is ranked sixth in the latest Varsity Maine poll. Lydia Jones and Abi Carey each had two hits, and Natalie Gilman hit a triple.
Carey struck out seven and walked five while allowing seven hits and five runs (three unearned) in 6 2/3 innings for the River Hawks.
BASEBALL
MARANACOOK 8, OAK HILL 1: Will Watson hit a two-run homer run as the Black Bears earned the win at Kents Hill School in Readfield.
Grady Hreben, River Fallos and Wyatt Farrington combined for a four-hitter for Maranacook (6-3).
Joseph Greenwood and Braden New had two hits apiece for Oak Hill (1-7).
SACOPEE VALLEY 2, BUCKFIELD 0: Chase Parker pitched no-hitter with eight strikeouts and three walks, Braiden Croteau had two hits and the visiting Hawks (6-3) shut out the Bucks (4-6) in Buckfield.
Bucks pitcher Gabe White struck out four and held Sacopee Valley to two runs and four hits.
GIRLS LACROSSE
MT. BLUE 13, MCI/NOKOMIS 2: Bree Griffin led the Cougars’ onslaught with five goals and an assist, and Lily Huntley continued her hot streak with four goals and a pair of assists in the victory in Newport.
Grace Allen scored twice and Nina Bogar and Annabell Fearon each contributed a goal for Mt. Blue (5-3). Abbi Donald assisted on three goals, and goalie Gwen Lesperance stopped six of the eight shots she faced.
Haylee Ramasco and Elle Toulouse each scored for MCI/Nokomis (0-8), and Hailey Callahan made 14 saves.
