We had a lot of people mention several locations where the few remaining public phone booths can be found in the area. About a dozen correctly identified this particular one near TJ Maxx in the Auburn Plaza at 730 Center St. in Auburn. In a random drawing from all the correct entries, Rita Lemieux of Turner was picked as the winner of a $25 Hannaford Supermarket gift card. When contacted, she told us she shops in the plaza quite often and one day while walking past the phone booth, someone next to her picked up the receiver to see if it worked. It did not, she said. “We had a good laugh and I said that I thought Ma Bell forgot about it,” she told us.
