It is estimated that about half of Maine’s population is of Canadian ancestry. Since Canada’s last election in April, news from predominantly web-based sources seems to indicate that Canada may be disintegrating. The rural province of Alberta is taking serious steps to secede from Canada. This is due to the past mismanagement of the mostly urban elites controlling the newly reelected Liberal Party.
But wait! Now, web-based news reports suggest the 2025 election count was mishandled. I couldn’t wait until my copy of the Maine Sunday Telegram hit my driveway last Sunday. I was hoping to read more trustworthy and carefully investigated news articles concerning what is happening directly across our border to people most of us are related to. But all I saw was one article about the war in Ukraine, one on Israel’s war and that the Taliban is angry about our travel ban imposed on them … duh.
To those who decide what is fit to print, are you still wondering why people are abandoning the print media for web-based news?
