As an American citizen, I am deeply disturbed to see what is going on in our country. The Trump administration is running roughshod over the Constitution and the rule of law. Our Congress and Supreme Court are being complicit in all of the actions that are being taken by the Trump administration and encouraging further actions that will have a negative impact on the vast majority of citizens.

The “Big Ugly Bill” will result in the largest transfer of wealth to the wealthiest while causing millions of people who rely on the social safety net to be harmed based on all nonpartisan reviews of the bill.

Lies are told daily by the administration as well as some members of Congress in regards to the impacts of this bill if it passes. It is being stated that there will be no cuts to Medicaid and this is simply not true. I encourage everyone to continue protesting and make it clear that we will not be fooled. Loss of health care for millions of our fellow citizens is immoral and inhumane. Decreasing SNAP benefits to the most needy is reckless and heartless, especially when food prices are at an all-time high.

We are at a tipping point and we cannot be complicit by being silent.
