As a writer, I found the recent article about Fore Street restaurant an inspiring and comforting piece of journalism. There’s so much in the news that brings me down, but this article lifted me up.
The Fore Street business model is unique and worth hearing about, especially as it sincerely puts customers first. This fascinating model seems to live in the hearts and minds of the owners and employees. In a remarkable esprit de corps, chefs of all levels carry and stack wood for the ovens. I can see why people strive for a job there.
I loved reading workers’ own words, unedited, and found those pieces enlightening. I was eager to hear each person’s perspective. Maine has always had distinctive business models and I’d like to read more about them. Thank you.
