OXFORD — This grant-funded Heat Pump and Solar Panel Technology training program is the first of its kind in Oxford County.

In July 2024, the Maine Governor’s Energy Office awarded $2 million to Clean Energy Workforce Training Programs. “…six programs will grow Maine’s clean energy workforce by providing essential training and upskilling services to a diverse group of Maine people,” said Dan Burgess, Director of the Maine Governor’s Energy Office.

Students will learn the entry-level skills needed by local employers in the construction industry for heat pump and solar panel installation, maintenance, and repair.

Students will train on state-of-the-art equipment to simulate working in the field. Tuition is funded through the Clean Energy Grant and is in partnership with the Associated General Contractors of Maine, which includes pre-apprenticeship credit for students entering registered apprenticeship programs. Additional supportive funding may also be available to qualified students. Students will receive the NCCER Core Certification, the WorkReady Credential, safety training, and training on solar and heat pump simulators. Site visits, guest speakers, and job interviews will also be arranged as part of the program.

This no-cost training program begins in September and will end in January 2026.  Classes are scheduled on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesdays from 4-5:30. Contact Aimee Edmunds (207-743-8842) for more information and to apply as soon as possible.
