Congressman Jared Golden must change his position on the treatment of Gaza.

There is growing evidence that the Israeli Defense Forces and Israeli government are actively committing genocide in Gaza. Sadly, our U.S. government is providing support to Israel as it murders Palestinians through starvation and through active military violence.

And where is Congressman Golden on this issue? Silent, complicit and without shame. Golden, like hundreds in Congress, has taken large sums of money from the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, a Zionist fundraising organization responsible for promoting and funding pro-Israeli politicians in the United States.

The deal is clear: support Israel without question, and watch your campaign coffers fill with money. It is a devil’s bargain that Golden has no problem striking. A basic internet search will reveal that AIPAC and the pro-Israel lobby is far and away Jared Golden’s largest donor.

Mainers are compassionate people, and I cannot imagine many support the starvation and murder of Palestinian people in Gaza. So, why is Golden voting in support of Israel’s murderous regime? Over the years, Jared Golden has voted to send billions of dollars in military aid to the IDF, opposed a congressional cease-fire resolution and voted to sanction the International Criminal Court simply because they sought accountability for Israeli officials accused of war crimes.

Jared Golden is on the wrong side of history. I demand he address this issue publicly, take accountability for his indifference to genocide and cease to accept donations from AIPAC and the pro-Israel lobby.
