The notion that requiring an ID to vote will disadvantage some or is prejudiced against others is outrageous. We need an ID to do just about anything today: purchase cigarettes and alcohol, book a flight, open an account at a bank or buy a car. This is nothing new and no questions or concerns have been brought up about these reasons to show an ID. The naysayers’ talking points are baseless and fabricated to scare and create panic. All of this is unsubstantiated fear-mongering.
Showing proof of who we are when voting will only make certain that we have stronger elections, increased transparency and restore confidence in the voting process. Thirty-six other states already require voter ID. Why not Maine?
Vote “Yes” on voter ID on Nov. 4.
