Steven B. Hoisington
WESTBROOK – Steven B. Hoisington, 73, of Westbrook died on Aug. 18, 2025, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
Steven was born July 14, 1952, in Bangor, the son of Richard E and Sylvia (Tobey) Hosington, and moved with his family to Farmington, Maine in 1960. He was educated in Maine graduating from Mount Blue High School in 1971. He received his associate’s degree in Golf Course Management from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1973.
He spent a lifetime working on golf courses including Unicorn Golf Course in Stoneham, Massachusetts, Martindale Country Club in Auburn, Maine, and Spring Meadows Golf Club in Gray, Maine. He was dedicated to his work, and the golf courses he took care of were always in beautiful condition
Steve’s favorite activities were playing golf, Snowmobiling, playing cribbage, going to camp at Snow Mountain and fishing, and completing puzzles.
Steve is survived by his wife Irene Hoisington, two children Jill Gherardini and her husband Ray, of Leawood, KS, Jeffery Hoisington and his wife Krysti of West Boylston, Massachusetts, three stepchildren Meeghan, Kristen and Lindsey, brothers David E. Hoisington and his wife Linda, of Biddeford, Maine, Richard T. of Farmington, Maine, and J Scott Hoisington and his wife Melissa of Kingfield, Maine; six grandchildren Matthew, Alisha, Lila, Chloe, Sammy and Jake; along with 10 nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday Sept. 6, 2025, at Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main Street, Westbrook.
