We were inundated by numerous correct entries for last week’s Mystery Photo of the Price of Freedom monument located at Veterans Memorial Park adjacent to the Longley Bridge on Main Street in Lewiston. The monument was dedicated in 2004. Stone memorials bearing the names of area residents who served their country also fill the park. In a random drawing from all the correct entries, Alice Krog of Bowdoin was picked as the winner of a $25 Hannaford gift card. In her voicemail entry, she wrote, “Beautiful park. My husband, Randy, is on the Seabees Stone. We go there a few times out of the year, just sit on the bench, look at the water, and think about all the wonderful men and women who have served. We walk around a lot. We hold hands.”
