The Oxford Hills School District is alerting parents that the region will be sending students home early today in advance of a storm that is expected to bring freezing rain and create dangerous driving conditions.
In a pre-recorded automated phone message Superintendent of Schools Rick Colpitts said the district’s elementary schools would be closing at 11:30 a.m. and the district’s middle school and Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School would be closing at 1o:30 a.m.
The Mount Blue School District is also announcing a early closing for its schools. Students in grades 7 to 12 would be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. and students in grades pre-K to 6 would be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. according to the district’s web site.
Schools in the SAD 58 towns of Salem, Phillips, Strong, Kingfield and Stratton will also close at 11:30 a.m. due to the predicted weather, according to school office personnel at Mt. Abram High School.
