AUBURN — Community Little Theater will present “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” a musical comedy chronicling the experience of six adolescents vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime, on April 20-29.
Performing the roles of the student finalists are Max Middleton as Leaf Coneybear, Harmony Brown as Marcy Park, Rebecca Singer as Logainne Swartzandgrubenniere, Gerry Therrien as William Barfee, Michael Litchfield as Chip Tolentino and Katie St. Pierre as Olive Ostrovsky.
Other cast members include Eileen Messina as Rona Lisa Peretti, moderator and former bee champ; Glenn Atkins as Mitch Mahoney, the official “comfort counselor;” and Roger Philippon as vice principal and spelling bee judge Douglas Panch. Paul Caron is director.
The six young spelling bee finalists in the throes of puberty are overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves. They learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser.
