GREENE — Sawyer Memorial will kick off its 2012 programming with the showing of “The Heart of San Francisco,” a film by travelogue artist Sandy Mortimer, on Friday, April 13.
Mortimer, who collaborated with fourth-generation Californians Rick and Jan Rosfield, takes viewers past Fisherman’s Wharf, Golden Gate Park and usual tourist sites, into many of the ‘hoods’ in the City by the Bay.
Also included is rare film footage of the 8.6 earthquake that wiped out three-quarters of the downtown buildings on April 18, 1906, and the rebuilding of the city.
“The Heart of San Francisco” will be shown at 2 and 7 p.m. at Sawyer Memorial auditorium, 371 Sawyer Road. Admission is free.
