PORTLAND — Gary Alan Boyd, 75, of Strong, died March 18, at Maine Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 19, 1937, in Farmington, the son of Fred and Lillian (Churchill) Boyd Jr. He was educated in the schools of Strong and graduated from Strong High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a retired truck driver of 40 years and a retired school bus driver. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, music and spending time with his family. He was a member of the DAV, American Legion Post 78 and the Sandy River Riders Club.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, June Boyd; his son, Matt Boyd and wife, Eva; his brothers, Robert Boyd Sr. and wife, Judy, Carlton Boyd and wife, Carol; his sisters, Sheila Fay and husband, Bill and Nancy Cook and husband, Robert, and his sister-in-law, Sharron Boyd, all of Strong; special cousins, Dean and Ethel Lishness of Pleasant Ridge; many nieces and nephews; and his special granddog, “Gidian.”
He was predeceased by his parents; his two sons, Michael and Kevin; and his brother, Basil Boyd.
