The spring season for all hunters with spring/fall wild turkey hunting permits and valid Maine hunting licenses that allow hunting of big game runs from Monday, April 30, through Saturday, June 2.

Available hunting zones are Wildlife Management Districts 7, 10-26 and 28, which is essentially Western, Central, Southern and Down East Maine. A map of the zones can be found at www.maine.gov/ifw/hunting_trapping/hunting/wild_turkey_springzone.htm.

According to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife website, a valid archery license, plus a spring/fall wild turkey permit also allows hunting of wild turkey with bow and arrow only.

The permittee must possess the spring/fall wild turkey permit and their hunting license or archery license at all times while hunting. A person can assist in a hunt without a license or permit for that activity as long as that person does not carry hunting equipment.
