MONMOUTH — The Monmouth Community Players annual Thomas E. Phillips Memorial Scholarship of $1000 was awarded to Edward Little High School graduate, Duncan Gelder. At Class Night on May 30, Debora Bishop of the guidance department presented the award for the theater company.

Duncan had appeared as “Dewey Maples” in MCP’s 2011 fall production of “The Diviners.” He also designed the poster and T-shirts for the show. His initiative and dedication to the project was much appreciated by the director, Colleen Mahan, and the MCP membership.

In the fall he will begin studies at Emerson College in the theater department.
