RANGELEY — Pianist Andy Kahn of Philadelphia will give a solo performance, “The Great American Songbook,” as part of Orgonon’s Evenings of Music series on Wednesday, July 11.
Kahn’s repertoire includes tunes written by such American standard songwriters as Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, George Gershwin, Harry Warren, Johnny Mercer, and Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart.
Kahn also plays some of his favorite jazz selections, lending his own improvisations. He lends a personal touch to his performances, sharing anecdotes about the composers and pointing out special elements of songs woven into our country’s musical history.
Kahn performed in Orgonon’s Evenings of Music series in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2011.
The concert, benefiting the Wilhelm Reich Infant Trust, will begin at 7 p.m. at the office and conference building at Orgonon on Dodge Pond Road. Cost: $10 for adults/$3 for children 12 and under. Refreshments will be served. Tickets are available at the museum office and bookstore at Orgonon, and at the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce office in the downtown.
