NORTH NEW PORTLAND — New England Celtic Arts will present Erica Brown and the Bluegrass Connection at North New Portland Community Church on Sunday, Aug. 12.
This the final installment of a series of Maine Masters partnered by Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center in Carthage and the Kingfield POPS. Curtain is at 7 p.m.
At age 9, Brown was traveling throughout New England, Canada and Louisiana with the Maine French Fiddlers.
She has performed as a special guest with Mac McHale And The Old-Time Radio Gang for five years.
Erica Brown & The Bluegrass Connection performs throughout New England. Brown is also a member of The Stowaways, Darlin’ Corey and The Record Family Band.
Other Bluegrass Connection members are Steve Roy, Matt Shipman, Ken Taylor and Read McNamara. Roy is well known for his bass playing, though he also plays and teaches mandolin, guitar and fiddle.
Shipman has taught guitar and mandolin at a Community Music School in Yarmouth and has been performing for about 10 years. He also plays bouzouki, tenor and clawhammer banjo.
Taylor has performed with Brown for eight years, playing acoustic bass and adding vocals. McNamara started playing banjo at age 18 while at college when he and four others formed a bluegrass band.
