DURHAM — A New Gloucester driver and her young passenger suffered what police termed “serious, but non-life-threatening injuries” in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Route 136 and Rabbit Road at about 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Androscoggin County Detective Sgt. Bill Gagne identified the injured as Rayna Campbell, 19, of New Gloucester, and her 12-year old sister, whom Gagne declined to identify. Both were taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland by Freeport Rescue.
The driver of the other vehicle, Bethany Ricker, 43, of Lewiston suffered apparent minor injuries and was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston by Durham Fire and Rescue, according to Gagne.
Gagne said Ricker was driving south on Route 136 and Campbell was driving east on Rabbit Road when their vehicles collided at the intersection.
Rescue personnel had to cut the roof off Campbell’s car and remove the driver’s side door to extricate the sisters from the front seat.
Damage to Ricker’s 2004 Honda was estimated at $8,000; Gagne deemed Campbell’s 2007 Hyundai Elantra a total loss. The crash remained under investigation Wednesday afternoon.
