WALES — Sarah Barbay and Alyssa Rouleau keyed a second-half surge for Oak Hill as the Raiders overcame a deficit in shots and corner kicks to pull out a 2-1 victory over Spruce Mountain in MVC girls’ soccer action Friday.

Gabby Green had assists on both Oak Hill goals, and Kelsey Collins turned back seven shots for the Raiders (1-0) in the win.

Hayley Doyon scored on a feed from Vanese Barnes for the lone tally for the Phoenix (0-1), and Emily Keene stopped two in the loss.

Buckfield 7, Pine Tree 0

BUCKFIELD — Naudia Wesley registered and opening-day hat trick and four other Bucks scored to lead host Buckfield to a convincing 7-0 win over Pine Tree in EWC soccer action Friday.

Mckayla Darling, Dakota Warren, Ashley Campbell and Elizabeth Strout all scored for the Bucks (1-0), with darling adding a pair of assists and Wesley and Warren adding another helper each.

Gabby Therriault and Arrabine Dunn combined to stop six shots for the shutout.

Mt. Blue 2, Cony 0

FARMINGTON — Eryn Doiron knocked in a goal in the first half and Chelsea Newhall added another in the second to lift mt. Blue to a 2-0 victory in KVAC soccer action Friday.

Mackenzie Conlogue added an assist for the Cougars (1-0), and Thia Bridges and Gabby Foy combined for 15 saves in the cage.

Autumn Sundsbury turned back 22 shots in the loss for the Rams (0-1).

Dirigo 5, Boothbay 0

DIXFIELD — Natalie Bolduc scored three goals in the first half as Dirigo dropped Boothbay with a 5-0 victory in a girls’ soccer opener Friday afternoon.

The Cougars’ Kaitlyn Morang scored on a Lindsy Crutchfield feed in the first half. Bolduc followed with two unassisted goals and a third thanks to Summer Keim pass, giving Dirigo a 4-0 lead going into the second half.

Kayla Gaudin topped off Dirigo’s lead with her unassisted goal in the second half. The Cougars outshot the Seahawks, 40-6. Dirigo goalie Natasha Deroche earned the shutout, making six saves.

St. Dom’s 4, Madison 0

AUBURN — St. Dom’s erupted with three goals in the first half and cruised the rest of the way, beating Madison 4-0 in a girls’ soccer opener Friday.

Faith Grady scored a pair of goals for the Saints, and teammates Kelley McLellan and Emma Byrne each added one. Byrne and sister Marley each earned an assist.

St. Dom’s goalie Kelly Pomerleau wouldn’t budge in net, making six saves. The Saints outshot the Bulldogs, 15-6.

Telstar 1, Winthrop 1, 2 OT

WINTHROP — Winthrop’s Adrienne Tracy scored on a pass from Annie Guerette with less than five minutes remaining in regulation to help earn a 1-1 tie with Telstar in girls MVC soccer action.

Telstar’s Ashley Savage broke a scoreless tie about midway through the second half on a pass from Ashley Brands giving the Rebels a 1-0 lead before the equalizer from Tracy. The two teams played tight defense in both overtimes to finish in a tie.

Danielle Pease turned away 10 shots in net for the Ramblers (0-0-1) while Courtney Currier stopped eight for the Rebels (0-0-1).

Winslow 2, Leavitt 1

TURNER — Devin Fitzgibbons found the lower right hand side of the cage for the game winner as Winslow notched a 2-1 victory over Leavitt in girls soccer action Friday.

Jenna Cote scored the first goal of the game on a header for the Hornets (0-1) on an assist from Mariah Treadwell. Treadwell broke down the right side and crossed the ball which was redirected by Cote for the goal.

The Black Raiders (1-0) tied the game at 1-1 with less than 10 minutes in the half on an unassisted tally from Pilar Elias. Her shot was from the left side that found the back post and rattled in.

Field hockey

Leavitt 1, Camden Hills 0

TURNER — Kierstin Leclerc scored the only goal of the game on a feed from Cheryl Fichter in the first half as Leavitt earned a 1-0 opening-day win over Camden Hills in KVAC field hockey action Friday.

Neither team had many good scoring opportunities. Camden Hills had the early advantage, with five shots in the first half, but Leavitt converted on one of its two shots in the half to take the lead. Meagan Dow and Kendra Gilbert played solid defense for the Hornets (1-0), while Sierra Santamango stopped two shots to register the shutout.

Lawrence 1, Edward Little 0, OT

AUBURN — Julia Lawrence scored the game-winning goal with 1:37 left in overtime, allowing Lawrence High School to slip away with 1-0 win over Edward Little in a KVAC field hockey tilt Friday.

The Red Eddies and Bulldogs battled through two scoreless first-halves before Lawrence settled the matter in overtime.

Lawrence outshot EL, 19-3, and its goalie, Emily Tozier, made three saves to earn the hard-fought shutout. EL goalie Amanda Williams was under seige, turning away 18 shots.

Winthrop 6, Telstar 0

BETHEL — It took just over a minute for the Winthrop Ramblers to tally their first goal of the season and they never looked back en route to a 6-0 blanking of Telstar in field hockey action.

Lauren Kaiser scored the first of her two goals with an unassisted score past Rebel keeper Meg Glover to start the scoring. Emma Spehr followed with an unassisted score before Kaiser closed out the half with her second.

Spehr registered her second goal of the contest to start the second half. Rachel Ingram and Shauna Carlson each followed with scores of their own. Winthrop (1-0) out shot Telstar (0-1) 20-0 in the victory. Alyssa Arsenault earned the victory in net. Glover turned away 12 shots in the loss.

Lewiston 2, Bangor 0

BANGOR — Jennifer Chouinard scored the game’s first goal 12 minutes into the first half to help lift Lewiston to a 2-0 victory over Bangor in class A field hockey.

The senior’s goal came on an assist from Abigail Loisel giving the Blue Devils (1-0) a 1-0 lead at the half. Junior Jenessa Talarico tallied the second goal of game in the second half on an assist from Kelsey Dumond for games final score.

Lewiston’s Ravon Palmer stopped all three shots she faced in the victory. Lewiston out shot Bangor (0-1) 20-3 in the contest.

Lisbon 3, Oak Hill 0

LITCHFIELD — Arianna Kayler scored a pair of second half goals to lead Lisbon to a 3-0 victory over Oak Hill in field hockey action Friday.

Molly Nicholson converted a first half goal to put the Greyhounds (1-0) up by on at the half. Olivia Harrington provided a pair of assists in the winning effort.

Goalie Abby Fuller made four saves for the Raiders (0-1), while goalie Stevie Charest turned away four to earn the win in net for Lisbon.
