DIXFIELD — Local resident Lisa Keim announces her candidacy for the Maine House of Representatives, District 93, which includes Canton, Carthage, Dixfield, Mexico and Peru.

The District 93 seat is currently held by Sheryl Briggs, D-Mexico.

“I am running because I believe in this state, I know what its people are made of, and I know our best days are ahead,” the Republican candidate said. “We just need to work together to achieve our common goals.”

Keim said she is concerned about the state’s prospects for job growth. She encourages people to work together so Maine families are given the opportunity to prosper.

“Hardworking people are being squeezed from every side. We need to do more to attract jobs to the region,” she said.

The candidate echoes outgoing U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe’s call for bipartisanship and practical approaches to issues.

“I don’t think that any one of us — or even any one party — has all the solutions,” Keim said. “But I do know that when we put our heads together and candidly confront our problems as a state, great things can happen.”

A native of Western Maine, Keim attended college in New Hampshire and in Atlanta, Ga., before returning home. She and her husband of 21 years, Blue, have three children, two of whom she schools at home. Blue works at NewPage paper mill in Rumford.

The family is active in their local church and enjoy biking, snowmobiling, skiing, gardening, four-wheeling, and hiking the Appalachian Trail.
