TURNER — A Livermore Falls man was arrested Wednesday after an alarm alerted police to a break-in at the Highland Golf Course.
Deputies from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department arrested Kenneth A. Drake Jr., 20, of 133 Pine Ridge Loop, on charges of burglary and theft.
At 2:53 a.m. Wednesday, deputies were called to the Highland Avenue golf course after an alarm sounded at the business. The first officer to arrive, Detective Maurice Drouin, met with the owner of the golf course who confirmed that a burglary had occurred and a man was seen running from the building. Other deputies soon joined in the search, including Deputy Jon Guay and his tracking dog Bosco.
Deputies cleared the scene and were called back to the area of Highland Avenue a short time later after a man matching the suspect’s description was seen.
Deputies returned and, with the help of the K-9 team, found Drake in a patch of woods near the golf course. Police said Drake matched the description of the suspect provided by the owner. Drake’s image was also captured on security video cameras, police said.
Drake was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn where he was being held on $1,000 cash bail.
