RANGELEY — Selectmen on Monday renewed the town’s financial policies, maintaining employee wages and benefits.

The town manager was given the go-ahead to dispose of surplus equipment by sale. The surplus includes the Fire Department’s engines 2 and 3 as well as salvaged items from the property at 3 School St., which was demolished as a Fire Department exercise.

There was extensive discussion of the cemetery maintenance contract, with the decision made to continue with the current provider for one year. A three-year contract was discussed, but implementation will require a warrant at the town meeting.

Kevin Sinnett presented details of the Adopt-A-Highway program to the board. Chairman Gary Schaeffer and the board thanked Sinnett for the presentation but no action was taken.

The position of head of Parks and Recreation was filled with the appointment of Keith Savage, a current employee with that department.

The board also adopted the General Assistance appendices, and approved two contracts for the reconstruction of Carry Road.

The transfer station will be staffed by one full-time position and the job opening will be publicly posted. There will be no part-time positions. The transfer station hours of operation and the burn hours will remain the same. Bids had been publicly requested for covers to the oversized bulky waste containers, but no bids have been received.
