MEXICO — The Police Department responded to 30 complaints over the last week.

Among the complaints were the following:

* At 7:59 a.m. Dec. 5, police responded to a call from the town’s highway foreman stating that vehicles have still been parking on the side of the road, despite the fact that the town’s parking ban went into effect on Dec. 1. The town foreman explained that if people continue to park on the street, they will be ticketed, and if they remain parked on the street during a snow storm, the car will be towed.

Arrests:

* At 3:57 a.m. Dec. 2, a Harlow Hill resident reported that someone attempted to break into their residence. Following an investigation, police subsequently arrested Matthew Duckett, 20, of Mexico. He was charged with criminal trespassing.

* A Harlow Hill resident reported at 1:52 p.m. Dec. 4 that they discovered prescription medication missing from their home. The residents reported on Nov. 25 that someone had forcefully entered their home but didn’t take anything, but in light of the new information, police have begun to investigate again.

* A Chase Avenue resident reported at 1:43 a.m. Dec. 2 that someone had been siphoning oil out of their oil tank. Police estimated the value of oil stolen at $125. Lt. Roy Hodsdon of the Mexico Police Department said this is the second time oil has been siphoned from private property, citing an incident on Nov. 11 where a dump truck had more than 150 gallons of diesel fuel stolen.

“People should begin taking security measures to protect their oil,” Hodsdon said. “Especially with winter coming.”

Accidents:

* A vehicle driven by James D. Harris Jr., 40, of Mexico was driving westbound on Main Street when it collided with a Jersey barrier on the other side of the road. An estimation of the damage to Harris’ 2006 Jeep was unknown at the time of the accident. Harris was not injured in the crash.
