Special service for Newtown
TURNER — There will be a special candlelight/prayer service from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, to remember those who were killed on Friday in Connecticut. The public is invited to attend this special service at the North Turner Union Presbyterian Church, 58 Howes Corner Road.
“The impact of Friday’s murders in Newtown, Conn., have had a ripple effect throughout the country and New England,” said Rev. Lissa Bradford. “We invite everyone to come together to share a time to grieve, to pray and to hug our kids a little tighter.
“This kind of violence hits us in many layers of our own emotions, especially during the holiday season. We want to give people a time and place to pray, to find some comfort and to grieve.” Bradford said. “We are keeping the service short so that children may attend with their parents on a school night.”
Immediately following the service participants will be invited to sign sympathy cards that will be sent to the Sandy Hook Elementary School and the residents of Newtown. For more information contact Rev. Lissa Bradford at 207-233-9801.
