RUMFORD — The Rumford Fraternal Order of Eagles will be hosting a New Year’s Eve party, starting at 7 p.m and lasting until 1 a.m.
According to Secretary Ed Provencher, the New Year’s Eve party, which he said “has been going on as long as I can remember,” is being held in the function hall this year due to an increasing number of attendees.
“The last couple of years have been really crowded,” Provencher said. “We’ve moved the celebration into the function hall, which also means there’ll be no smoking.”
Provencher said that it’s the first time in a few years that the New Year’s Eve party had to be moved into the function hall, adding that “some years are busier than others.”
Entertainment will be provided by the Norridgewock band, Borderline Express, which plays a mix of country and rock and roll. Provencher said that the band has played at Rumford Eagles’ events in the past and expects many of the residents in attendance to recognize them.
The Eagles will be providing a light meal and party favors, which will come in the form of hats and noisemakers, according to Provencher.
Tickets to the party are available at the Rumford Eagles building on Rumford Avenue for $15. The event is open to the public.
